A creative challenge, which attraction would you like to redesign? It can be anything.
Is there a attraction, does not matter which one, which needed a redesign in your eyes. It can be s small addition, or maybe a huge overhaul, another theme or ridesystem. I'll give you an example.
Fabula at the Efteling, Netherlands
The attraction originally opened by Dutch Prince Bernard as Pandadroom at June 19th 2002, sponsored by the WWF (World Nature Fund), and was themed around the world and especially our nature.
With the 3D spectacles provided, a maximum of 400 visitors entered the main theater. During the next 12 minutes, the movie Dream of the Panda took the visitor to the North Pole, ocean and jungle which are, according to the movie, all in the gravest of dangers and only the power of the WWF can save them now.
The movie was made by Movetrix NWave Pictures and had special simulation effects like moving seats, splashing water, blowing wind and a 1000 kg tree branch (made by the Stakebrand company) that falls into the audience.
At November 3rd 2019 the attraction closed as the cooperation between the Efteling and WWF ended. It got a extensice theme redesign and was rebranded to Fabula, in cooperation with Aardman Animation, also know for eries als Shaun the Sheep en Wallace & Gromit.
Future of the attraction
So fast forward to 2024, the Efteling Grand Hotel is being build and visible from the rooms the Fabula attraction can be seen as a huge green block, without any theme, covering rockwork or something else to cover it. So not a pretty sight from a new hoterl. So what to do? Applying themed rockwork is almost as expensive as the costs to reimagine and rebuild a attraction.
Reimagine the attraction
What would you do? What kind of theme would you apply? What if we were able to strip the internals of the attraction and create a new experience.
